Donation collected during Carnegie Concert Delivered to Fukushima NPO

Donation collected during Carnegie Concert on October 19, 2013 was delivered by Mike Shirota, Concert Director, to Mr. Taira of Channel Square, a NPO who are trying to build an Indoor Park for children in Fukushima on December 30, 2013. The donated amount was $5,340. Ms. Miyake, Chairperson of Fukushima Mothers Chorus also attended.
昨年10月29日のカーネギーコンサート、および9月11日の風の環コンサートで集められた義援金534,000円は12月30日に福島のNPO:Channel Squareに無事届けられた。両コンサートを主宰した白田が福島おかあさん合唱連盟の三宅会長とともに福島市内にあるChannel Squareのショップを訪問。代表の平（たいら）氏に手渡した。Channel Squareは放射線量が高くて外で十分遊べない子供たちのためのインドア施設を建設するために努力している。

幼き子の悔しさを And the sorrows of those little innocent souls
この海原に沈めよ let them slowly subside beneath the sea

雨よ　降りしきれ O let the rain keep falling
あの嘆き流せ and wash your griefs away

Note:
I had a chance to visit one of the ruins (an elementary school) in Ishinomaki, Japan in last April where most of the students were killed by the huge tsunami on March 11, 2011. The devastated schene inspired me with a mixture feeling of sorrow and anger as if I was one of those fathers who lost their loved ones.
This lyrics came up as a requiem for those children when I was arranging a choral piece with 4 mixed voices on the beautiful melody of Memorial Processional composed by my friend Maestro Gregory Singer. ---- Mike Shirota, Concert Director

マンハッタン・シンフォニー,　3.11レクイエムを合唱つきで初演！

マンハッタン・シンフォニーが2年ぶりに風の環コンサートに戻ってくる！

日時：　2013年9月11日、18：30開演（18：00開場）
場所：　Kaufman Center Merkin Concert Hall, 129 W. 67th Street
Ticket: 10ドル

グレゴリーシンガー氏率いるマンハッタン・シンフォニー・オーケストラがこのコンサートのホスト役であるJapan Choral Harmony(JCH)と「メモリアル・プロセッションナル　～3.11犠牲者のためのレクイエム～　合唱つき」を共演する。合唱付きの演奏は初めて。ソロはソプラノの宗田舞子さん。
なお、混声合唱の編曲と作詞はJCHの音楽監督で風の環コンサートを主宰する白田正樹氏。

ＮＹで活躍する琴奏者、石槫雅代さんが同じくマンハッタン・シンフォニーとともに「鳥のように」を演奏する。

特別ゲストとして女声バーバーショップのカルテット「Harmonics Quartett」の4人が参加。ユニークなハーモニーを聞かせてくれる。この4人はいずれも女性バーバーショップ・コーラスのHarmony Celebration Chorus (HCC)のメンバー。HCCは来る10月19日福島県お母さん合唱連盟のグループを迎えてカーネギー大ホールで開かれる「第二回日米合唱祭　～福島から世界へ～」にJCHとともにアメリカ側代表として参加する予定だ。
