7th Circle Wind Concert Features the World Premiere "War & Peace"

New York, NY – August 20, 2014 - - “The Circle Wind Concert” will celebrate its seventh annual concert on Thursday, September 11th, 2014 at Kaufman Center Merkin Concert Hall at 129 West 67th Street, New York City. The concert begins at 6.30pm. Doors open at 6.00pm. Tickets are $10.

The concert will feature “War & Peace” composed by Maestro Gregory Singer of Manhattan Symphonie Orchestra that will be performed as the world premiere in collaboration with Japan Choral Harmony “Tomo”. Choir Tomo will also sing several songs that were performed at Real Alcazar, a world heritage site in Spain, during the Japan-Spain Culture Exchange Program in May this year. That special event commemorated the 400th anniversary of the Keicho Delegation, which was dispatched by Date Masamune, a powerful feudal-era lord of northeastern Japan, and arrived in Spain in 1614. That program was also organized and sponsored by the 9.11 Circle Wind Memorial Concert Committee.

Miki Orihara, a principal dancer of The Martha Graham Dance Company, will be also featured at the concert. Ms. Orihara will be accompanied by a well-known pianist Senri Oe, playing his original musical composition. The Circle Wind Concert welcomes modern dance for the first time in its 7-year history.

Participation of young students from Lyceum Kennedy International School is another highlight this year. It will be enjoyable to see the children sing and dance on the stage. Also to be enjoyed will be the melancholic gypsy jazz performed by a unique guitar band “Swing 16”. Swing 16 will also collaborate with Choir Tomo to perform a few J-Pop oldies.
