第９回コンサートは熊本から和太鼓ジュニアチームを招待！ 

９回目となる今年の風の環コンサートには福岡を拠点に活躍している日本を代表する和太鼓チームの「野武士」が登場。風の環コンサートとしては初めて本格的な和太鼓のパフォーマンスを披露する。さらに熊本から和太鼓のジュニアチーム「人吉ねぶか太鼓」を招待する。今年4月に発生した地震そして１，６００回を超えるという余震で大変な被害にあった熊本・大分の復興を祈って力強い太鼓の響きを届けてくれる。
また、今年NPO風の環コンサートは「風の環少年少女合唱団」を創設したが今回は彼らのデビューとなる。この合唱団は週刊NYプレス社の協力を得て、日本の美しい童謡、わらべ歌、民謡、小学唱歌などをニューヨークに住む日系の子供たちにも受け継いでいってほしいという願いからリクルートされたもので50人を超える小学生と中学生で結成されたもの。
第一部ではこの「風の環少年少女合唱団」がNYを拠点に活躍する白崎彩子ジャズトリオと共演する。またブラウン大学がアカペラ男声コーラスグループ"The Bear Necessities"も熊本支援にロードアイランドからかけつける。　2011年からホスト役をつとめる混声合唱団Japan Choral Harmony "TOMO"は「野武士」の和太鼓に乗せてスピリチュアルを歌う予定。非常にめずらしいコラボレーションに期待と注目が集まっている。
今年のMCは、ロイター通信のアンカーでシニア・プロデューサー、さらにドキュメンタリー映画の映画監督としても知られる我謝京子さんが引き受けてくださる。

9th Concert Features Junior Drum Team from Kumamoto ! 

The Circle Wind Concert will celebrate its ninth annual concert on Sunday, September 11th, 2016 at Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center located at 129 W. 67th Street, New York City. Doors open at 3:30pm and concert begins at 4:00 pm. Ticket : $10.
This year it will feature a leading Japanese drum (Wadaiko) group from Fukuoka, Japan "Wild Samurai (Nobushi)" as well as a junior drum team from Kumamoto, Japan "Hitoyoshi Nebuka". They will perform with a strong hope for early recovery from devatating earthquakes hit Kumamoto and Oita area last April. Fifty people are dead or still missing, The survivors have been suffering from tremendous number of aftershocks (more than 1,500 times !).

The first half of the concert will ferue Ayako Shiraaki Jazz Trio, an acclaimed jazz players based in New York area as well as The Bear Necessities, all-male a cappella groupd from Brown University. Japan Choral Harmony "TOMO" will host the concert again as they did for the last 4 years.

Also specially noted in this concert is that Circle Wind Boys & Girls Choir has been officially formed this year with about 50 Japanese speaking elementary and middle school students living in New York area. They will sing a few Japanese children songs for the first time on stage collaborating with the jazz trio.
MC will be Kyoko Gasha, senior producer for Thompson Reuters and also known as a film director.
